Welcome to the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

This guide is intended to help new Marines understand what to expect after joining, where to find important information, and how to get started within the unit.

The 15th MEU is built around teamwork, discipline, communication, and professionalism. You are not expected to know everything immediately. What matters is that you are willing to learn, follow instructions, and contribute to the unit.

Getting Started

Once you have been accepted into the 15th MEU, make sure you complete the following:

  • Read all unit rules, policies, and standing orders.
  • Review the chain of command and understand who you report to.
  • Make sure your Discord nickname and forum profile follow unit standards.
  • Confirm that you have access to the correct Discord channels and forum sections.
  • Review the training schedule and upcoming events.
  • Install any required games, mods, communications software, or other unit tools.
  • Ask your leadership if you are unsure about anything.

Chain of Command

The chain of command is an important part of how the 15th MEU operates.

Questions, concerns, and requests should normally be handled at the lowest appropriate level. Start with your immediate leadership before going directly to senior staff or command personnel.

Following the chain of command helps keep communication organized and ensures issues are handled efficiently.

Attendance and Activity

Members are expected to remain reasonably active and communicate when they cannot attend scheduled events.

If you know you will miss a training session, operation, or other required event, notify your leadership as early as possible.

Repeated absences without communication may affect your standing within the unit.

Real life always comes first, but communication is expected.

Training

Every Marine will go through training appropriate to their assignment.

Training may include:

  • Basic unit procedures
  • Radio communications
  • Weapons handling
  • Tactical movement
  • Team and squad operations
  • Medical procedures
  • Vehicle or aviation procedures
  • Mission planning
  • Standard operating procedures
  • Role-specific qualifications
Do not worry if you are unfamiliar with military terminology or tactical gameplay. Training exists to teach you what you need to know.

Conduct

Members of the 15th MEU are expected to conduct themselves professionally when representing the unit.

Treat other members, guests, allied communities, and server visitors with respect.

Harassment, excessive toxicity, discrimination, cheating, intentional disruption, or behavior that damages the reputation of the unit will not be tolerated.

Competitive banter is fine. Personal attacks are not.

Ranks and Billets

Ranks and billets are earned through participation, performance, leadership, and the needs of the unit.

A rank represents responsibility and authority within the organization. A billet represents the position or job a Marine currently holds.

Members should not request promotions simply based on time served.

Focus on performing your current responsibilities well and helping those around you succeed.

Discord and Forum Use

Discord is used for day-to-day communication, announcements, coordination, and community interaction.

The forum is used for more permanent information such as:

  • Policies
  • Training material
  • Rosters
  • Guides
  • After-action reports
  • Official announcements
  • Unit documentation
Members should regularly check both platforms for updates.

Operations and Events

Before attending an operation, make sure you understand:

  • The event start time
  • Your assigned role
  • Required equipment or loadout
  • Required mods or software
  • Your team, squad, section, or element
  • The appropriate voice and radio channels
Arrive early whenever possible so technical issues can be resolved before the event begins.

Communications

Clear communication is critical during training and operations.

Keep radio traffic concise and relevant. Avoid talking over leadership or filling operational channels with unnecessary conversation.

If you do not understand an instruction, ask for clarification.

It is better to ask a question than to guess and create confusion.

Asking for Help

New Marines are encouraged to ask questions.

Nobody joins knowing every procedure, abbreviation, system, or expectation.

Your leadership and fellow Marines are there to help you learn. If you are unsure where to find something, ask.

Representing the 15th MEU

When participating on public servers, community events, allied Discords, forums, or other platforms while identifying yourself as a member of the 15th MEU, remember that your actions reflect on the unit.

Represent the organization professionally and respectfully.

Final Notes

Your first few days may feel like a lot of information at once. Take your time, learn the structure, participate in training, and get to know the people around you.

You will learn most of what you need through experience.

Welcome aboard.

Semper Fidelis.
