Initial Enlistment

Enlistment Processing

Submission of an enlistment application marks the beginning of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit accession process. Applicants should understand that submitting an application does not constitute acceptance into the unit. All applications are subject to review by authorized recruiting personnel.

Applicants who have not yet spoken with a member of the Recruiting Staff should report to the appropriate recruiting channel on Discord at their earliest opportunity. A recruiter will assist with the processing of the application, identify any missing or incorrect information, answer questions regarding unit requirements, and provide guidance throughout the enlistment process.

Following review, an application will normally receive one of the following dispositions:

  • Pending Applicant Action — Additional information, corrections, or clarification are required before processing may continue.
  • Approved — The applicant has satisfied the initial enlistment requirements and is authorized to proceed to Recruit Training.
  • Denied — The applicant does not currently meet the requirements for enlistment or has otherwise been determined ineligible for membership.
Applicants are responsible for monitoring their application and responding promptly to any requests issued by Recruiting Staff.

Pending Applicant Action

If additional action is required, Recruiting Staff will provide instructions identifying the information or corrections necessary to continue processing.

Applicants should carefully review the instructions provided and contact a recruiter if clarification is required. Failure to respond within a reasonable period may result in the application being closed or denied.

Applicants should not submit duplicate applications unless specifically directed to do so by Recruiting Staff.

Application Approval

Applicants whose enlistment applications are approved will advance to the next phase of the accession process and become eligible for assignment to Recruit Training.

Approval of an application signifies that the applicant has met the initial administrative and eligibility requirements of the 15th MEU. It does not constitute completion of enlistment or assignment as a fully qualified member of the unit.

Approved applicants will receive further instructions concerning training requirements, communications access, required materials, and reporting procedures.

Application Denial

An enlistment application may be denied when an applicant fails to meet established entry requirements or when Recruiting Staff determines that acceptance would not be in the best interests of the unit.

Denials may occur automatically when an applicant fails to satisfy a mandatory eligibility requirement. Examples may include, but are not limited to:

  • Failure to meet the minimum age requirement
  • Disqualifying game or platform bans
  • Providing false, misleading, or incomplete information
  • Failure to meet established conduct or community standards
  • Failure to satisfy current unit-specific enlistment requirements
An application may also be denied following review by authorized Recruiting Staff or unit leadership.

When appropriate, applicants may contact Recruiting Staff for clarification regarding the disposition of their application. The release of specific details remains at the discretion of the 15th MEU.

All enlistment decisions are made in accordance with current unit policy and may be reconsidered only when authorized by the appropriate leadership.

Recruit Training

Recruit Training Overview

Applicants who successfully complete the initial enlistment review will proceed to Recruit Training, the formal entry training program of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

Recruit Training is designed to introduce new members to the standards, procedures, expectations, and operational practices of the unit. The program establishes the baseline knowledge and discipline required before assignment to an operational billet.

Upon entering Recruit Training, each recruit will receive instructions from designated training personnel. Depending upon current unit organization and training requirements, recruits may be assigned a Drill Instructor, instructor, or other authorized training staff member responsible for overseeing their progression.

Recruits are expected to maintain regular communication with their assigned instructor and promptly raise any questions, scheduling conflicts, or concerns that may affect completion of training.

Training Process

The exact training sequence may vary depending on the applicant's intended billet, assigned section, and the platforms currently supported by the 15th MEU. However, recruits should generally expect to complete several stages of accession training.

These may include:

  • Initial orientation and administrative processing
  • Review of unit rules, policies, and standards of conduct
  • Communications and Discord procedures
  • Rank structure and chain of command familiarization
  • Basic unit terminology and procedures
  • Required written or oral knowledge evaluations
  • Game-specific or platform-specific instruction
  • Practical training events
  • Final evaluation or qualification
  • Assignment to an operational element
Training staff will provide recruits with any required training materials, schedules, documentation, and reporting instructions.

Successful completion of all assigned requirements is necessary before a recruit may graduate from Recruit Training.

Standards and Expectations

Recruit Training is the applicant's first formal introduction to the standards expected of members of the 15th MEU.

Recruits are expected to demonstrate:

  • Professional and respectful conduct
  • Reliability and accountability
  • Willingness to learn
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Proper use of the chain of command
  • Timely communication
  • Attendance at required training events
  • Compliance with all published unit policies and procedures
Applicants are not expected to know everything when they enter Recruit Training. Training staff are responsible for providing instruction and guidance. Recruits, however, are expected to make a genuine effort to learn and meet the standards presented to them.

Completion and Unit Assignment

Upon successful completion of Recruit Training and any required evaluations, the recruit will be processed for graduation and assignment within the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

Unit assignment will be based upon the member's approved billet, organizational requirements, qualifications, and current staffing needs.

Following assignment, the member will report to the appropriate chain of command and begin participation with their designated element.

Completion of Recruit Training represents the conclusion of the initial accession process and the beginning of service as a member of the 15th MEU.

Final Notice

Applicants are responsible for remaining informed throughout the enlistment process, maintaining communication with Recruiting Staff, and completing all assigned requirements in a timely manner.

The 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit seeks members who are mature, dependable, professional, and willing to contribute to a structured team environment.

We appreciate your interest in joining the 15th MEU and wish you success throughout the enlistment and Recruit Training process.
